Industries We Serve
The performance of piping systems everywhere rest on APP – literally. APP pipe supports prevent harmful corrosion through the many phases of petroleum storage and processing, energy and chemical production. When your pipes last longer, your business flows smoothly. Read on to learn more about our work in your industry.
Like refineries, Petro-Chemical production facilities offer many opportunities for the economical solution to galvanic corrosion provided by composite materials. The AeroTek Wear Pad will eliminate the problem of Corrosion Under Insulation that plagues many chemical processing plants. Elastomer lined metallic Vibration Dampening Clamps (Patent Pending) provide control of pipe movement around dynamic processing equipment while permitting pipe expansion due to thermal effects. A selection of lined Pipe Straps and coated U-Bolts can offer economic alternatives.
APP plays an important supporting role in bringing affordable petroleum products to the world by preventing pipe corrosion and saving our refining clients millions of dollars in maintenance and installation costs. Our composite pipe supports and other products are utilized in refining facilities worldwide, from small independents to the largest super-majors such as Exxon Mobil, a continual client since 1994. We offer pipe supports for all process piping: hot, cold, insulated, un-insulated, metallic or non-metallic. Built to your exact specifications, our supports can accommodate any pipe diameter and load.
The harsh marine atmosphere experienced by FPSO’s and Production Platforms is a fertile environment for composite materials to protect steel against the elements of high humidity and temperature. Salt water corrosion is especially aggressive at metal-to-metal contact points.
It can be prevented by using non-conductive ProTek Wear Pads and Pipe Shoes to protect both pipe and structure. Elimination of the need for welding during installation or repair is a major factor compared to steel wear pads.
The cryogenic temperatures, required for ethylene production have led to the development of the CryoTek Pipe Shoe. These non-metallic, pre-insulated supports have been used successfully in both ethylene production and LNG transportation around the world. Not only does the composite construction eliminate metal-to-metal corrosion on the pipe but the monolithic, pre-insulated shoe reduces energy losses due to heat absorption at these ultra-low temperatures. Laboratory testing in liquid nitrogen has shown the specific polymer selected for fabrication resists cracking down to -320ºF and withstands compressive forces up to 27,500 psi.
Above ground pipeline supports, compressor/pump stations, dehydration, separation, and metering facilities all benefit from the mitigation of corrosion provided by composite ProTek Wear Pads and Pipe Shoes to protect both pipe and structure. Elastomer lined metallic Vibration Dampening Clamps (Patent Pending) provide control of pipe movement around dynamic processing equipment while permitting pipe expansion due to thermal effects. A selection of lined Pipe Straps and coated U-Bolts can offer economic alternatives.
The Adjustable Pipe Support can be utilized in remote regions where transportation is restricted to helicopter or light truck loads. It also provides extra support in areas of increased seismic activity.
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electrical power. Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) systems use a combination of lenses and mirrors
to focus the sunlight into a narrow beam.
The concentrated heat is then used to produce steam to drive conventional turbine powered generators, i.e. without boilers. All of the piping between the solar collectors, the steam generators, and turbines, including condensate return lines, are subjected to very high temperature. AeroTek Wear Pads and ProTek Pipe Shoes can protect this hot pipe from abrasion due to thermal expansion and from Corrosion Under Insulation at pipe supports.
Co-generation and electrical utility plants can benefit from the corrosion control offered by AeroTek Wear Pads and ProTek Pipe Shoes. Process piping around the boilers and turbines
is subject to galvanic corrosion at pipe supports. Insulated pipe is also subject to damage from abrasion during periods of thermal expansion/contraction which can lead to heat loss to the atmosphere. Severe cases of Corrosion Under Insulation have been reported if water is permitted to enter the insulation jacket.
